INTRODUCTION TO SAHIDIC COPTIC

Program Dates
Online Sessions: May 28 – June 25, 2025 (Wednesdays 3-5 PM CEST via Zoom)
In-person Residency: July 21–25, 2025 (Rome, headquarters of the Waldensian Faculty of Theology, daily sessions 9-11 AM and 3-5 PM CEST)

Program Highlights
 Introduction to Coptic grammar and morphology (Sahidic dialect)
 Interactive online sessions and in-person intensive week
 Reference textbook: T. O. Lambdin, Introduction to Sahidic Coptic, Mercer University Press, Macon (GA) 1983
 All necessary materials provided digitally
 6 ECTS credits upon completion
 Certificate of attendance (80% minimum participation required)

Eligibility
 No previous knowledge of Coptic required
 Be affiliated with one of the partner institutions (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Institut Protestant de Théologie de Paris, or Waldensian Faculty of Theology)
 Have good command of English (working language)

Short-term Erasmus mobility: students from Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Institut Protestant de Théologie de Paris, Waldensian Faculty of Theology in Rome can request a short-term Erasmus mobility in their institutions. The Waldensian Faculty offers a limited number of places in its Hall of Residence.
Early application is encouraged as places are limited. The application deadline is March 31, 2025.
