In compliance with Article 36 of the Faculty Regulations, the Faculty Council, in agreement with the Waldensian Board of Trustees, proclaims the vacancy of the Chair of the Old Testament as of the academic year 2025/26 and announces a competition for a post of


Extraordinary Professor* of Old Testament


Assignment: Teaching of subjects related to the Old Testament.

The post is full-time; teaching must be in Italian.

Main duties: Planning and carrying out teaching and research activities in the subject area covered by the chair.

Activities representing the discipline of the Old Testament in academic and ecclesiastical contexts, at national and international level.

A willingness to undertake the administrative and management tasks indicated by the Faculty bodies is also required.

Qualification required: Master's Degree in Theology

Language skills: Spoken and written knowledge of English and at least one other

foreign language

Economic conditions: Pastoral treatment according to the regulations of the Waldensian Table.

Starting date: October 2025

Documentation required: curriculum vitae, including indication of academic qualifications obtained and languages spoken, with certified photocopy of the highest qualification obtained a list of publications, indicating the 3-4 texts considered most significant a copy of the publications indicated in the teaching

project list 


The Faculty Council will evaluate the applications received on the basis of the following ranking, which will be forwarded to the Pastoral Body of the Waldensian Evangelical Church - Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches, which is responsible for designation: 

25% Academic titles 
25% academic publications 
25% curriculum 
25% evaluation of a trial lecture

* "Professors ... extraordinary ... are appointed by the Synod on the proposal of the Pastoral Body in accordance with the General Discipline and Synodal Regulations." (R/FVT, art. 35). 
"The Council receives the nominations and transmits them to the pastoral body together with an evaluation of the candidates' titles, publications and curriculum." (R/FVT, Art. 36 d) 
"Extraordinary professors become ordinary if confirmed by the Synod, after three years of teaching." (R/FVT, Art. 35).
