Mourning

During the night between October 5 and 6, Pastor Giorgio Tourn passed away at the age of 95.

A charismatic figure within the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches and beyond, Giorgio Tourn held numerous roles throughout his life, among them serving as Professor of Waldensian History at the Faculty of Theology in Rome. The staff and faculty members remember him with deep affection and gratitude—for his wide-ranging culture, not limited to theology; his sense of humor; his sharp intellect and polemical spirit; and his profound Christian and theological passion. For the younger generations of students, Tourn was known primarily through the memories of those who came before them—and will continue to be present through his writings and within the collective memory of the Church.

The Faculty joins, in mourning and in prayer, his family, colleagues, loved ones, and the entire Italian Protestant community, which recognized in him a faithful witness to the Gospel.
