are pleased to invite you to the seminar

VALDES OF LYON AND FRANCIS OF ASSISI

31 OCTOBER 2026, 10:00 A.M.

(The seminar will be held in person, but it will also be possible to attend online via Zoom.)

Two figures who lived at roughly the same time and shared certain themes in their radical preaching of the Gospel. Yet they were distinct figures, whose religious commitment had very different outcomes and who were understood very differently by their contemporaries.

The seminar aims to introduce participants to a fascinating period in the history of Western Christianity, exploring the lives and profiles of two protagonists who, in some respects, mirror one another.

SPEAKERS

• Lothar Vogel: Professor of Church History and Dean at the Waldensian Faculty of Theology in Rome.

• Francesca Tasca: High school teacher and scholar of medieval Waldensianism. She coordinates the editorial team of “Riforma e movimenti religiosi”, the journal of the Society for Waldensian Studies.
