Prof. Corinne Lanoir: Jacob, the “other” ancestor, April from 5 to 12, 2017

14/03/2017

Among the patriarchs’ narratives in the book of Genesis, Jacob’s story has a peculiar place and offers a specific point of view. It echoes the northern traditions, which were eventually revisited by later redactors. What is the function of Jacob’s story? What is its theological aim? How does Jacob relates to other ancestors like Abraham and Moses? A fresh reading of Genesis 25-36 will answer to these questions.
