Advanced Latin Seminar
(Chair of the History of Christianity)

Objectives
The course aims to offer students the opportunity to directly read historical sources in Latin and to contextualize and understand them, in order to deepen their knowledge of the History of the Reformation in Europe.

 

Target Audience
Students of the Faculty and/or individuals interested in the study of sources related to the Modern History of Christianity who already have a working knowledge of Latin. Attendance is mandatory at 75%. A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the end of the course.

 

Methodology
Original texts (in PDF format) will be provided for each session. Participants will first read the texts individually, then they will be explained and commented on by the instructors. Reading and interpretation will be conducted in Latin as the language of instruction. Theological insights will be discussed in Italian and/or German.

 

Duration
From October to June, once a month, two consecutive hours.

 

 

First session: Friday, October 17, 5:00–6:45 p.m.

2 ECTS

Desiderius Erasmus, De libero arbitrio, selected passages.

Martin Luther, De servo arbitrio, selected passages.

 

Maximum number of participants: 20 (recorded participation is not allowed).

Annual registration fee: €100

 

€360 for the

Free of charge for LSBT program students
